How often do you make excuses for not doing a task that you know you ‘should’ do, but choose to do something else that is easier or more fun instead.

There is an old Yiddish proverb that goes,

“If you don’t want to do something, one excuse is as good as another.”

In other words, if you’re NOT doing something, what does it matter why?

We can all make a list of excuses as long as our arm for why we’re not taking action.

😱 It’s too cold (or hot)!

😱 I’m too busy!

😱 I already know that stuff!

😱 It isn’t the right time!

😱 I can’t afford it!

Do any of these excuses sound familiar?

STOP making excuses and get things done instead.

So often the narrative we tell ourselves is enthusiastically prompting us to take action. I’ll go for a walk today…I’ll clear my inbox emails…I’ll make those follow-up calls.

But…

The experience part of ourselves actually makes the decision as to what we do.

I’ll go for a walk…not now, I’m busy with work.

I’ll clear my inbox emails…not now, I’m on Facebook.

I’ll make those follow-up calls…not now, I don’t like to feel pushy.

It is highly likely you have experienced these thoughts or something remarkably similar.

Am I right?

You aren’t being lazy, You are finding excuses to procrastinate.
