One of my favourite poems of all time is Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken.”  You may have read it and love it as much as I do.  If you haven’t then I’d recommend doing so.

When I first read this poem I was completed senior studies. Not as a seventeen year old but as a mother of two young children returning to study without any real definite plans for future education other than to pass high school English.

I felt the words spoke directly to me.

‘Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could.

I could either take the easy road or challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone and taking the road less travelled.

Accepting that growth comes from challenging, getting uncomfortable is now a way of life for me.  The results have been amazing. I’m able to pursue my passions and live a life that is full of adventure and joy.

Give it a go if you don’t already.  Try stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something that is going to make you uncomfortable.  If you are feeling uncomfortable and out of your depth…great!  You are growing.

Remember…

  1. Think YES rather than an automatic No
  2. Look for new opportunities that are scary
  3. Take action

Best wishes till next time.
