Did you know like everyone else you have 168 hours available every week to accomplish your objectives?

Take away time for sleeping, eating and the basics of life, you still have about 100 hours to split between work and leisure.

So what are you achieving in your 100 hours?

If you are a fan of Star Wars movies, you’ll remember Yoda’s advice to Luke Skywalker in the Empire Strikes Back. “Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try”.

Why is it we often plan to try to find the time or do something rather than taking action and just doing it?  By trying rather than acting, we set ourselves up for failure.

It is easy to berate yourself for not taking action and focussing on what you ‘should’ be doing rather than reflecting on why you aren’t moving forward.

How often have you been asked, “What are you passionate about?”

In Simon Sinek’s book ‘Start With Your Why’, he challenges all to consider whether the work you are doing actually matters.  To you and to the world.

Without a Why, big things can’t happen.  With it, you become unstoppable.

To achieve the results you want:

  • Delete the should statements
  • Focus on your why
  • Visualise the end goal

Identifying your Why will motivate more than just setting goals. Your filters affect every decision you make and every action take or don’t take.  Your filters will move you to act, so get to know what inspires and motivates you personally.

Remember…

  1. Compare your filters with people you admire
  2. Know where you want to go
  3. Dream big

Best wishes till next time.
