I’ve plenty to celebrate in my life.
My husband likes to spend time alone in his shed.
My son’s don’t bother me for money…well not that often anyway.
My grandchildren are annoying to their parents just enough to feel validated for the grief they caused us. 🙂
I don’t feel guilty at my age if I don’t kill myself at the gym.
There is so much to celebrate.
I’m not alone in my blessings. As a resident of Australia, I am one of the most fortunate people in the world. If you have traveled to any third world countries you will understand exactly what I mean.
You may have heard these statistics before.
- If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world.
- If you have money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
- If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.
- If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation you are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering today.
- If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all.
Life is meant to be a celebration.
Firstly, celebrate yourself. Acknowledge everything you have accomplished and hold yourself in high regard instead of finding fault. Doing so will increase your confidence and trust that you deserve all the good life can bring when you concentrate on your achievements no matter what they might be.

Instead of focussing on what has gone wrong in your day, look for what has gone right and place your attention there. Be grateful for the little things as well as the big things that go right or that maybe don’t, but you have had the opportunity to learn and grow because from the experience.
When we celebrate the small wins it reminds us to enjoy the journey. It is vital to learn to have fun, not take ourselves too seriously, and not always focus on the outcome. As an ambitious person myself, I know this can be tricky but if you let yourself off the hook occasionally, you will not only reduce stress levels, but you will notice more everyday opportunities to celebrate.
One thousand and one hundred and one days ago I began a daily post on Instagram where I would find (and photograph) something for which I was grateful. We are talking three years of seeking out daily experiences to celebrate and appreciate. I have to admit by focussing on what I wanted to celebrate, it shifted all attention from what might have gone wrong that day. Thus improving outcomes.
Life is meant to celebrated and be lived in the present. Not the past where we would have could have and should have.
Not in the future where everything is a maybe, but in the now. By doing so you will find countless reasons to celebrate every moment.
Remember, you are not your thoughts. You are not your worries. You are you, in this moment of time. Life unfolds in the present. Don’t squander your life with worry about what might have been or what could be.
Look around you right now. What can you celebrate? Is it quiet? Meaning you can get work done without interruption. Is it noisy? Meaning your world is filled with people and activity. Whatever it is. Appreciate and celebrate.
If you are always seeking moments to celebrate you will live a life filled with happiness and tremendous satisfaction.
