For most of my clients, the thought of cold-calling makes them want to run for the hills.  And, they do everything else to ensure they are “too busy” to cold-call.  Recognise the scenario?  Don’t be concerned as you aren’t alone. Cold-calling can be scary.

You might ask now that social media is the primary method of contact, is cold-calling even necessary to grow your business.  Absolutely YES!

If you have a service-based business, at some time you have to face your prospects.  Either with a phone call or face to face meeting, but you will need to make that first call.

The main problem I see that causes the greatest anxiety around cold-calling is the way most people go about it.

The main mistakes I see people make all the time are:

  • Trying to make a sale instead of building a relationship
  • Not understanding their prospects specific needs
  • Not expecting success

P.S. If you are stressed because you don’t have enough income and customers, then this 1-Day Sales Masterclass is a must. Click for details and to register for the November 29 intensive training.  Personalised training. Limited places.

A cold-call is only the first step.  It should NEVER be the time you try to make a sale.  Once my clients get this, their anxiety dissolves and they are able to take action.

Singer Todd Smith tells us, “One of the most important keys to success is having the discipline to do what you know you should do, even if you don’t feel like doing it.”

So no more avoiding making that cold-call.

Remember…

  1. Visualise success in achieving your goals
  2. It’s not a numbers game
  3. Ask questions, then ask more questions
