The planning and goals I put in place years ago have enabled me to achieve the life of my dreams, creating my lifestyle business.
I am just back from a weeklong extended holiday at the beach after Easter.
Enjoying the crystal clear water and sunny days at Kingscliff in northern New South Wales with family.
The wonderful thing about what I have set up is, as long as I have internet access, I can run my business from anywhere.
As I did this week.
Even running a coaching session with a client from the beach.
I have to admit though, it has taken planning to get the business to the stage where I focus on the lifestyle I want to create while still doing the work I love.
This a quote I often repeat in my planning/goal-setting workshops…
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Five tips that will help you plan and achieve your goals:
Be specific: Your goals should be clear and specific. Avoid vague or general statements that can be interpreted in different ways. For example, instead of setting a goal to “lose weight,” set a goal to “lose 10 pounds in the next three months.”
Make them measurable: Your goals should be measurable so you can track your progress. Set specific targets that you can measure and evaluate, such as the number of pages you will write per day or the amount of money you will save each month.
Set realistic goals: Your goals should be challenging but achievable. Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals. Be honest with yourself about what you can realistically achieve given your time, resources, and other commitments.
Set a deadline: Give yourself a timeline to achieve your goals. This will help you stay motivated and focused. Set a specific date for when you want to achieve your goal and work backward from there to set smaller milestones along the way.
Write them down: Write your goals down and keep them somewhere you can see them regularly, such as on a whiteboard or in a notebook. This will help you stay accountable and remind you of what you are working towards.
And oh, and you don’t just write plans and goals in January.
The upcoming May 6 1/2 Day Planning & Goal Setting Workshop will be the perfect opportunity to check in as to how your year is going and make adjustments on where you are focussed.
